What "target price" actually means
A target price is the number you've decided is genuinely worth booking at, not just a lower number than before. Working out what that number should be for a specific route takes more than a guess - we've written a full guide on that in What's a Good Price for a Flight? This page is about what happens once you have that number: how an alert should actually use it.
Why most alerts don't really do target prices
Google Flights and Kayak will tell you when a price drops or when they judge a change "significant," but neither lets you set a fixed number and simply wait for it. You're still the one deciding, each time a notification arrives, whether this particular drop is actually good enough. That's not a target price - it's a running commentary you have to keep interpreting yourself.
How milo's target-price alerts work
You set the number once, along with the route, cabin, stops and dates you'd accept. Milo keeps checking against that exact figure and says nothing until a flight matching everything else you asked for actually reaches it. One notification, and it's one you already know is worth opening.
A target price is only half the job, though - it also needs to be checked against the right dates and reported without turning into noise. That's the combination milo is built around.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a generic "price drop" alert?
A price-drop alert fires on relative movement - the price went down, by some amount, from whatever it happened to be before. A target-price alert fires on an absolute number you chose yourself, regardless of what the price used to be.
What happens after I hit my target price?
You get notified with the details and a link to book. Milo doesn't book anything on your behalf - the decision and the booking stay with you.
Can I change my target price later?
Yes. You can update your target price, along with dates, stops and other criteria, any time from your dashboard - it's only the route and cabin class that are fixed once an alert is created.
